Celebrating Excellence: NMSBA Student Excellence Award Recipients
Tularosa Municipal Schools is proud to recognize two outstanding individuals, Joane Gronewold and Adrianne Salas, as recipients of the New Mexico School Board Association (NMSBA) Student Excellence Award.
This prestigious award honors individuals who demonstrate exceptional achievement, leadership, and dedication to serving others. Joane and Adrianne exemplify these qualities through their commitment to their professions and to our community.
Joane Gronewold, a dedicated nurse, is recognized for her compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of others. Her work reflects the highest standards of care and service.
Adrianne Salas, a devoted tutor, is honored for her dedication to supporting student success. Through her patience, encouragement, and passion for education, she makes a meaningful difference in the lives of the students she serves.
Their accomplishments highlight the positive impact of service-oriented careers and the importance of leadership within our community. We are proud to celebrate their achievements and the example they set for others.

Tularosa High School proudly celebrated the Class of 2026 at Senior Sign Day on April 30th. During this special event, students were recognized for their post-graduation plans as they signed posters representing their next chapter—whether it be college, the workforce, trade school, the military, or a gap year.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to our THS teachers, staff, and families for the unwavering support and guidance you have provided throughout these students’ high school journey. Your dedication has helped lay a strong foundation for their future success.

Students from our schools joined dancers streaming in from the southwest corner, filling Tingley Coliseum with vibrant regalia and a powerful chorus of chants, drums, and clanging bells.
Their participation marked the “Last Dance” of the Gathering of Nations Powwow—the largest powwow in North America—which concluded Saturday evening in Albuquerque after a 43-year run, giving our students a meaningful opportunity to be part of a historic and cultural tradition.
